A New Chapter:
7115 De Pijp
Last week, we began a new chapter for 7115 by Szeki when we opened the doors to our newest studio store. Located in De Pijp, a charming and vibrant neighborhood in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, this is our fourth brick-and-mortar location, and our second in Europe. The adrenaline, excitement, and nerves have been building up over the last year as we planted the seed for our second location in Europe, and quietly began bringing that dream into fruition — searching for the perfect neighborhood, space, and fixtures and details. We’re delighted to finally be able to share this new space with you all. As we catch our breath, we want to reflect on and celebrate the warmth and community that brought us here.
Every new chapter that 7115 has entered over the last sixteen years — whether it be a new store, a renovation, a design experiment, etc — has been led by a gut feeling. 7115 has always been a dynamic brand, taking on new challenges, new lives, always finding ways to grow and evolve alongside the community and friends, new and old, that have supported us along the way. It’s one of my favorite things about the brand: the ability to stay curious and keep exploring all the ways that 7115 could show up for you.
That feeling was what encouraged us to open our flagship in Williamsburg in 2014, and also collaborate with FRAMA for its renovation in 2022. It’s also the same feeling that encouraged us to explore what a universal, unisex offering could look like; what opening up a store in Copenhagen could help provide for our community and customers in Europe. Every decision informs the next. Being in Copenhagen these last few years has opened up so many new possibilities for our designs, and we’ve loved seeing the way that you’ve been interacting with the collections that have been born from that change. This led us to ask what it could look like if 7115 found a second home in Europe. We’re excited to explore those answers over the course of the next few years, as we settle into our new location here in Amsterdam.
As someone who was born in Hong Kong, and spent my most formative years in New York, I’ve always flocked to neighborhoods that remind me of the homes that made me. De Pijp is no exception. Bustling, charming, and diverse. It reminded me of the Lower East Side, where we opened the doors to our first store in 2008, and yet still felt so vast and unknown to me. I felt instantly at home here. Gut check. I knew that this was where we would need to go next.
It’s still early days, but we’ve already felt such overwhelming care and support here at 7115 De Pijp. From filling out our paperwork with the local tax authorities, to installing our mirrors and fixtures, everyone we’ve encountered in this new chapter has been so warm and helpful.
We’re so excited to be here and are grateful to all the locals who have welcomed us with such open arms, in so many ways. Thank you to all our friends and friends of friends who have spread the word non-stop about 7115 and all the experiments and fun we’re going to have here at the De Pijp studio store. We can’t wait to continue meeting our new neighbors and friends, this beautiful city, and to see where it will lead 7115 next.
